Yoga presented in a child-friendly way can help counteract the pressures experienced by little people living in today’s busy world. Academic pressures, rigid timetables of before and after-school activities, television and video games, social-media and competitive sports are all adding to rising levels of stress and anxiety in children.
Through yoga, children learn techniques for self-health, relaxation, and inner fulfilment, they are better equipped to navigate life's challenges with a little more ease. Learning yoga at an early age encourages self-esteem, body-positivity and awareness, a physical activity that's non-competitive. Learning in a group we are able to foster cooperation and compassion, rather than opposition.
What a great gift to give our children!
Physically, it enhances their flexibility, strength, coordination, and body awareness bydeveloping the vestibular system. In addition, concentration, executive functioning and a greater sense of calmness. By learning breathing and mindfulness skills; children’s ability to reach a heightened relaxed state improves. Yoga encourages children to exercise, play and connect more deeply with the inner self, and develop an intimate relationship with the natural world that surrounds them.
My seasonal yoga workshops involve themed postures, breathing and mindful movement activities to promote children’s (and their grown-ups!) health and wellbeing.
Taking inspiration from story books, animals, insects, weather and cultural celebrations we can teach our little yogis about the world around them, developing their awareness and offering a chance to relax and play together.
The perfect chance to bond and share those precious little moments in life!
